1. What is the new in-app bill?
The new in-app bill is a redesigned Bills tab in the Amber app. It lists every charge and credit on your bill in plain language, so you can see what you're paying for and who you're paying. It replaces the old Bills screen.
Why did Amber change how bills look in the app?
We want you to see where your money goes at a glance. Every charge and credit now sits in a clearly named group.
Does the new bill change what I'm charged?
No. Your rates and fees are the same. The new bill shows the same charges in a clearer, itemised format.
2. What does the bill breakdown show me?
The bill breakdown splits your bill total into named groups, so you can see what each part of your bill is made up of. You'll only see the groups that apply to your energy bills.
Why can’t I see a breakdown for some bills?
The bill breakdown isn’t available for bills issued before July 2026. To view the details, download the PDF. Some newer bills may also lack a breakdown if the system can’t generate one.
Which groups can appear in my bill breakdown?
- Usage charges
- Energy exports
- Network demand
- Daily supply charges
- Your Amber subscription
- Other charges and credits, such as vouchers or concessions
How do I see what's in a group?
- On your bill in the Bills tab, tap the arrow next to a group to see what it's made up of.
- Tap the ℹ️ next to any line item for a plain-language explanation.
Why does a charge show as network, market or Amber?
So it's clear who's charging what. Some fees come from your network provider, the company that runs the poles and wires in your area. Some come from the wholesale electricity market. Your subscription is Amber's own. The breakdown shows who each charge comes from, instead of lumping everything into one number.
3. What do CREDIT, DUE and OVERDUE mean on my account?
The top of your Bills tab shows your current balance with Amber, marked as CREDIT, DUE or OVERDUE. The status tells you whether you have money on your account, owe an amount, or are behind on a bill.
What does CREDIT mean?
CREDIT means you have money sitting on your account. We'll put it toward your next bill, or you can withdraw it in Payments.
What does DUE mean?
DUE means you owe an amount that isn't late yet.
What does OVERDUE mean?
OVERDUE means a bill has passed its due date. To pay it, tap Payment options on your bill. If you need more time or are finding it difficult to pay, email info@amber.com.au. We can help you explore a payment extension, a payment plan or support through our financial hardship program.
4. Why does my account status still show as Due after I paid?
If you've paid your current bill, the status at the top of your Bills tab can still say Due until your payment reaches us. Payments can take up to 3 business days.
5. Why are there two amounts next to each bill?
Each bill in your Bills tab shows two amounts. The top amount is the Bill total. The bottom amount is the Total due.
Why does an older bill still say Due after I paid it?
The status next to each bill shows your account at the time that bill was issued. It doesn't change when you pay later. Your latest balance is the status at the top of your Bills tab.
