What payment options do you offer?

Follow

We have a range of payment options available to Amber customers to suit their financial needs.

You’re opted in for Direct Debit but you have the option to choose other payment methods in the app. When you receive your bill with us, it will have a due date listed which is the date the direct debit is automatically processed. Please note there is a 1% transaction fee on credit and debit cards.

We also have BPAY available to all our customers, which means you have more control over how and when you can pay your bills. This will allow you to get on top of your bills if you'd like to pay in advance (bill smoothing) or pay in instalments up to three days before the bill due date. You'll find your BPAY details listed on your bill. We will only Direct Debit your account if there is an outstanding amount owing on the due date - Please note that BPAY payments take up to 3 business days to process.
Note: each Amber account has unique BPAY details.

We offer direct debit via bank account and credit card (which you can request in the Amber app) and Centrepay to customers as payment options.

If you'd like more predictability in your bills, you can also sign up for SmoothPay.

With SmoothPay you choose a fixed amount to pay towards your energy bills each month. During the times of the year when your bills are lower than the fixed amount you’ve chosen, the difference will go towards building your SmoothPay balance. Then you can use this balance to cover the extra costs when your bills are higher than usual.

To opt in, head to the 'Bills' section of the app, tap 'Payment options' in the top right hand corner, and follow the instructions under 'Set up SmoothPay'. You can learn more about it here.

If you are ever struggling to pay your bills, we have options to assist with flexible arrangements that work for you, including payment plans and payment extensions. You can find more information about our payment plans and how to set it up in-app here: How do payment plans work at Amber?

Need to update your payment details? You can follow the steps here to update this in your Amber app.
