Energex Residential Two-Way Tariff Trial — Participation Terms
The Energex residential two-way tariff trial (96200) uses seasonal network prices to encourage customers to shift electricity use and exports. It includes a network export reward from 5pm–8pm in November–March and an export charge from 11am–1pm in April–October, alongside time-of-use import rates.
By submitting a request to join, you authorise Amber to request a change to Energex to change to tariff 96200 and agree to the Energex trial terms, including the participation and information-sharing requirements summarised below.
Joining and commencement
Participation is subject to eligibility, availability and Energex’s acceptance. The trial is capped at 5,000 customers across Energex, and places are not guaranteed. Amber submits requests in the order received.
Your tariff change will be effective only once the request is accepted and processed. Amber will confirm the effective date. Submitting a request does not reserve a place, guarantee a switch or entitle you to backdated rates or rewards.
To request a tariff change, please email info@amber.com.au and write: 'Please update my tariff to Energex 96200'.

Trial duration and changes
The trial is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027. Energex may extend it, end it early or cancel a site’s participation with reasonable notice. If the trial is extended, Energex may also change its tariff structure or components with reasonable notice.
If your site no longer meets the eligibility criteria, Energex may cancel participation immediately by notifying Amber. The trial does not change your standard network connection contract.
Information collection, use and sharing
You agree to Energex accessing relevant account information, electricity consumption and metering data, and information provided through applications and surveys. This may include information identifying you or your property and your contact details.
Energex may collect, use and disclose this information to conduct and evaluate the trial, understand customer responses and inform future tariff design. Organisations involved may include:
- Energy Queensland and Ergon Energy Corporation.
- Research partners and market research companies.
- Marketing and advertising providers.
- Information technology providers.
- Meter installation and data providers.
- Economic analysis providers.
De-identified results, with names, addresses and contact details removed, may be shared with regulators, government bodies and trial participants, included in published research, or disclosed to other entities as required or authorised by law.
Surveys and communications
You agree to participate in surveys and relevant data-collection activities. Energex may contact you by email, SMS or post for trial communications, feedback or research. No fixed number of surveys or time commitment is specified. You must keep your account and contact details up to date.
Withdrawing or finishing participation
If you are on the trial tariff, you may request to leave the trial by emailing info@amber.com.au. Amber will arrange withdrawal by written notice to Energex, including a reason and the eligible standard tariff to apply afterwards.
The change is not immediate. Amber will confirm its effective date and arrange a return to an eligible standard tariff—3900 or 6900. Amber must also nominate an eligible standard tariff when participation otherwise ends.
Withdrawal does not automatically mean information already collected will be deleted. For information about access, correction or privacy complaints, see Energex’s privacy statement.
Your consent
Submitting a request confirms that you have reviewed the tariff rates, full trial terms and privacy information, and agree to the participation and information-sharing requirements. If you do not agree, do not submit a request. Taking no action leaves your current tariff unchanged.
