What is a NMI number ?
Your NMI (National Metering Identifier) is a 10–11 digit number assigned to your electricity meter by your network distributor. Think of it as a unique address for your meter — it doesn't change when you switch energy providers, and it's what energy companies use to identify your property on the network.
How do I find my NMI in the Amber app?
The easiest place to find your NMI is right inside the app:
- Open the Amber app and tap the menu icon
- Go to Settings.
- Look for NMI Number— you’ll see your NMI listed under Account Number.
You can tap your NMI to copy it straight to your clipboard
Can I find my NMI on my bill?
Yes. Your NMI appears on PDF bills:
- Open the Amber app and go to Billing.
- Tap on any past bill and download the PDF version.
- Your NMI will be listed on the bill, usually near your address or account details at the top.
If you’re yet to receive your first Amber bill, the in-app Settings page is the quickest way to get your NMI without waiting.
Why does my NMI say “Pending” in the app?
In some cases, your NMI might not be available straight away. This usually happens during signup or the onboarding process, when we’re still waiting on information from your network distributor.
Once your NMI is confirmed, it’ll update automatically in your Settings — no action needed from you.
