Update on Amber's partnership with Evergen

Follow

Over the past three years, Amber and Evergen’s partnership has enabled non-SmartShift compatible battery customers the ability to make the most of Amber’s wholesale pricing through Evergen’s battery optimisation product.

With Amber expanding the number of solar, battery and EV systems that are compatible with SmartShift, and Evergen focusing on their B2B services, Amber and Evergen have agreed to retire our joint offering.

What does this mean?

  • As of August 2025, Evergen will no longer onboard new Amber customers
  • Evergen optimisations will stop for all Evergen Amber customers from 15th December 2025.

Please note: As your battery will no longer be optimised by Evergen, your battery will revert to self-consumption mode. While you won’t be on SmartShift yet, Amber is still a great solution for battery customers. Having a battery with Amber means you’re protected from higher evening wholesale electricity prices.

See this page for the battery and solar systems that are compatible with SmartShift, and this page for the brands we are actively exploring becoming compatible with over the next few quarters.

For existing Amber customers using Evergen

Customers with a system that is already SmartShift compatible

Many customers currently using Evergen’s optimisation can already join SmartShift. If you have a compatible system (as outlined on this page), you can join SmartShift whenever you are ready. To join SmartShift, complete the following steps

  • Email Evergen and ask them to disconnect their device from their optimisation: info@evergen.energy
  • On your Amber app, go to the ‘Devices’ tab, and complete the registration form. This only takes 2 minutes.
  • If you are in NSW, make sure you apply for your PDRS rebate to claim up to $1,015 for joining SmartShift. Learn more about the rebate here.
    • Complete this form to nominate MAC as your certificate provider before onboarding to SmartShift. Once you’ve joined SmartShift, we’ll send you an email so you can apply for your rebate.
  • If you’re in SA, you can apply for a REPs rebate when you join SmartShift. Learn more about the rebate here

Customers with a system that is not yet SmartShift compatible

Amber is working on building new integrations, and working with Evergen to transition you to SmartShift when they are ready to ensure a smooth experience.
from 15th December you will no longer have access to your Evergen optimsation.

You can also join Amber’s waitlist here to be notified when your inverter will be integrated with Amber.

Keen to help us accelerate an integration with your setup?
Join our beta testing program and get early access to SmartShift battery optimisation?
We'd like to invite you to register your interest for the upcoming 'Beta testing' of your solar and battery integration. As a customer with a battery that Amber is working on integrating with, Beta testing with you is the last step before we launch it to the public. During this beta phase, you’ll get early access to Amber for Batteries, and we’ll ask you to flag anything that doesn’t look quite right so we can smooth out any final bugs before the wider release. Things to look for may include:
    - Battery not following the battery 'plan' in the 'devices tab’
    - Solar not curtailing (if your solar is DC coupled to your battery)
    - System not exporting to grid
    - Battery not charging
    - Battery not listening to your manual commands
    - Anything else that looks out of place

We're hopeful that there aren't issues, but your feedback will be appreciated if they do pop up.

PS - Please note we won't be compatible with all models from all brands. Here are a few examples:

  • Goodwe: We are currently testing GoodWe, and hope to be fully compatible with device with serial numbers starting with the following: MSC, DSC & DTA  (compatibility across other serial numbers may be available in the future but require further testing)
  • Growatt: We are also testing Growatt inverters. We are likely only to support APX/SPH inverter and battery combinations in the near future (check the specification plate on the side of your inverter)
