The Australian Government is providing $1.8 billion to extend and expand the Energy Bill Relief Fund and provide electricity bill rebates to all Australian households and eligible small business electricity customers in 2025-26 to ease cost of living pressures. This builds on the $3.5 billion available for energy rebates provided by the Commonwealth in 2024-26 under the existing fund. - All Australian households and businesses will receive a $150 rebate and eligible small businesses $150 from the Australian Government, to be paid in $75 quarterly instalments on your electricity bill in July and October.
How will Amber apply the Energy Bill Relief Rebate?
- If you are an Amber customer on the eligibility date, the rebate will automatically be applied to your account.
- The rebate will appear under the 'Credit' section of your Amber invoice.
- If your invoice is in credit then this will automatically roll over into your next invoice.
- If you have switched retailers between the anchor dates then you will receive future instalments with whoever your retailer is on the anchor date.
When will the rebate be applied?
For the Energy Bill Relief rebate, this will be applied in 2 quarterly instalments. You can expect these to be applied to your bills in July/ August ‘25 and October/November ‘25.
- The $150 residential rebate is to be applied in 2 quarterly instalments of $75 for the remainder of 2025
- The $150 small business rebate is also to be applied in quarterly instalments for the remainder of 2025 - VIC business customers will receive a lump sum payment in July.
