GivEnergy support is currently in beta. What's that mean?
When we say GivEnergy support is currently in beta, it means the integration is still new and we’re working on fine-tuning the automation. Some parts might not run perfectly just yet, but our engineers are keeping a close eye on all enrolled sites and raising any issues with the manufacturer’s technical team so they can be fixed.
We can’t give an exact date for when beta will finish, but we won’t move forward until we’re confident the automation is running smoothly for the vast majority of sites. In the meantime, you can still use all the features in the Devices tab once your device is successfully enrolled.
What happens after I sign up?
We've published this guide on the Amber for Batteries Enrolment Process if you want to take a deep dive.
After you've signed up to Amber and submitted your battery details via the website or app, we will check that your site is all set up to join the SmartShift program. This includes making sure that you've officially transferred to Amber as your electricity retailer, that you've got a smart meter installed and that your meter is configured to record solar exports. All this has to happen before we can continue with the battery enrolment.
What if I have multiple accounts?
If you are currently logged in as the account that has the system you want to automate, progress with the enrolment as usual. If you want to automate a system that's linked to a different GivEnergy account, switch accounts first and then try again.
Checklist to avoid delays during enrolment
Ensure your inverter is online
If you can see live data in your GivEnergy app, then your inverter is online.
Ensure that you're unenrolled from your previous battery optimisation program
If you've previously enrolled your GivEnergy system with another VPP, ensure that the previous provider has completely released control of your system before signing up to SmartShift.
If you're unsure whether you've previously been enrolled in a VPP, see this article for more info: What to do if you're in a virtual power plant (VPP) before you join Amber (+ clues to tell if you're part of a VPP if you're unsure)
