As Australia continues toward a 100% renewable energy system, we continue to offset any remaining carbon emissions from your electricity use through our default Carbon Neutral Plan.
Carbon Neutral plan: Under this Plan, we offset the carbon produced in generating your electricity by buying verified carbon units, which are generated by international sustainability developments to reduce CO2 emissions. The prices displayed on our website and on our app already include the carbon offset cost, which is up to 0.35 cents/kWh, depending on your region.
We also offer the option of a 100% GreenPower plan:
GreenPower is a government-lead renewable electricity accreditation program that enables consumers to have their usage from the grid matched with renewable electricity.
The GreenPower scheme acts as a financial transfer that operates on top of the electricity grid. Renewable generators are awarded certificates when they generate electricity. When you choose GreenPower, we buy and surrender these certificates on your behalf which means your electricity usage is annually matched with 100% net emission renewable energy. This essentially gives renewable energy a price premium over dirty sources and encourages more development of renewable sources.
