In addition to Amber for Batteries (SmartShift™) being an approved VPP under the SA Gov Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme, we are now approved for the EV1 rebate: Connecting a New or Existing EV Charger to an Approved DR Aggregator.
You may be eligible for a rebate of up to $100 from the SA government for connecting your EV or EV charger to Amber for EVs.
The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a government initiative designed to lower electricity demand during peak times. It works by rewarding customers who invest in energy-efficient appliances and technology - in this case, EV owners connecting their car or charger to automation.
Amber has partnered with MAC Trade Services (MAC TS) to facilitate this rebate MAC TS is an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP) and handles the creation and sale of energy-saving certificates on behalf of Amber customers. Your rebate comes from the sale of these certificates.
What you are entitled to claim under the scheme:
The value of your rebate is dependent on if you are a 'priority group' or 'non-priority group' customer. You can look up which group you belong to on MAC TS's website here.
EV or EV Charger | Priority Group Rebate | Non-Priority Group Rebate |
E.g. Tesla Model 3 | $100 |
$60 |
If you have more than one EV you can claim this rebate multiple times depending on whether both EVs can be automated through a charging solution. At least one of the devices (EV or charger) must be compatible with Amber for EVs.
For example:
- If you have one Tesla and one EV charger you are entitled to one rebate amount.
- If you have two EVs and two chargers that can be automated, you are entitled to two rebates. For example, you may have a Tesla model 3 and a Tesla model Y with a Tesla Wall Connector and a portable Tesla Mobile Connector (or any other charger as it is the Tesla car that is compatible with Amber for EVs).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the rebate, your EV or EV charger (as we integrate) must be compatible with, and optimised by Amber's EV automation.
This rebate can only be claimed in the calendar year that you first connected your EV to Amber for EVs.
Claiming your rebate:
If you are not yet an Amber for EVs customer in South Australia, you will need to join Amber and connect your EV or charger to the automation.
Once your EV is connected and optimised, head to the application page on MAC TS's website here to apply: https://mactradeservices.com.au/south-australia/ev-charger-rebates
- Have your proof of purchase and a photo of your EV ready for the application.
To be clear, Amber is not paying this rebate, determining eligibility or rebate amount. We simply have worked with MAC Trade Services to get Amber approved by the SA Government for the EV1 activity under REPS, so you have the opportunity to access this rebate once you are a fully-optimised Amber for EVs customer.
