Why does Amber ask for Tesla Vehicle location data?
There are lots of different locations where you could plug in and want to charge. But Amber only wants to direct the charging of your vehicle when it’s plugged in at your home. We use location data to determine whether your Tesla is at your home and, if it’s not, we don’t attempt to direct its charging. This means that you can plug in at a fast-charger or at work, and Amber won’t compete with another charging manager to direct your Tesla’s charging.
I want to leave Amber for EVs
While we’ve made it easy to turn-off the Amber for EVs automation at any time, if you want to unlink your Tesla and stop Amber controlling your EV’s charging then just let us know at info@amber.com.au with your account details.
You will also need to remove Amber's access to your Tesla account in the Tesla app to remove your EV from Amber's control. Click on this link or follow the below steps:
- Open the Tesla app
- Navigate to Account Settings -> Security -> Third Party Apps
- Find Amber Electric and tap "Manage"
- Scroll down and tap "Remove Access"
To remove the car authentication please also follow these steps on the touch screen on the vehicle:
- Tap Controls -> Locks
- Tap the trash icon next to the Amber key
