Ausnet — Residential two-way tariff (RCER11) — FY2026-27

Follow

Who is this tariff good for?

RCER11 pays an extra 10c/kWh on top of the wholesale feed-in price for electricity exported between 4pm–9pm, every day of the year. Import times and rates are the same as AusNet’s time-of-use tariff (NASS11S).

This makes it a good fit if:

  • ✅ You have battery energy left to export in the evening
  • ✅ Your battery or home uses most of your solar between 11am–4pm
  • ✅ You charge an EV or run big appliances during the day (11am–4pm)

Once you're on this tariff, SmartShift takes into account these new prices and does the work for you.

Worth thinking about if:

  • ❓ You export a lot of solar between 11am–4pm and can’t store or curtail it. Exports above 1 kWh a day in that window have a small charge on RCER11, all year round.

How does this compare to my current tariff?

Amber passes through network tariff costs directly. Network tariff costs impact what you pay / earn on top of wholesale prices at Amber. The Live Prices screen will reflect your network tariff.

You can find your network tariff in the Settings tab, under Tariff Information

RCER11 (two-way tariff) vs. NASS11S (Time of Use)

With a battery and SmartShift, there is a very strong case for switching tariff to RCER11:

  • Bonus on evening exports. Earn an extra 10.0c/kWh on top of wholesale prices between 4pm–9pm, every day of the year
  • Same import rates. Peak, off-peak and solar sponge rates and times are the same as NASS11S
Season Usage rates Feed-in rates
All year Same as NASS11S. Peak, off-peak and solar sponge rates and times don’t change Significant upside: bonus 10.0c/kWh on exports from 4pm–9pm. New 1.0c/kWh export charge from 11am–4pm above 1 kWh a day

What’s the catch?

The main trade-off is the new 1.0c/kWh export charge from 11am–4pm, on exports above 1 kWh a day. Using or storing your midday solar can help limit it, and SmartShift can help with this.

Our analysis found very little downside, and >99% of battery customers were still better on RCER11.

What's in it for Amber? Amber passes network charges and bonuses straight through. We don't make any additional money by you switching tariffs, we just want you to make the most out of your battery with Amber.
