This article lays out how you can check if you are enrolled for solar curtailment, and how to check the current status of your curtailment.
Checking if you are enrolled for solar curtailment
If you have a battery enrolled with SmartShift
On your 'Devices' tab, click on 'SmartShift Settings'.
If you see a section for 'Automated Solar Curtailment', then you are enrolled in curtailment. You will be able to see whether you are on Load Following or On/Off Curtailment, and learn more about them.
If you do not see this section, then you are not enrolled for solar curtailment. To check if you are eligible for curtailment, and for steps on how to enrol, head to this FAQ.
If you do not have a battery enrolled with SmartShift or are a solar-only customer
If you are a solar-only customer, you can check if you are enrolled for solar curtailmet by clicking on the 'Devices' tab.
If you see a screen similar to the below, then you are enrolled for curtailment.
If you do not see this screen, then you are not enrolled for curtailment. To check if you are eligible for curtailment, and for steps on how to enrol, head to this FAQ.
What the current status of your curtailment is
There are a few places in the app where you can see the current status of your curtailment.
All curtailment customers will be able to see the current status of their curtailment on the export prices screen of the 'Live Prices' tab. You may also see the status displayed in your 'Devices' tab depending on whether you also have a battery enrolled with Amber for Batteries.
Current statuses and their meaning include:
- Active: Actively curtailing
- Warming Up: Waiting for hardware to respond, expected to start curtailing soon
- Standby: Curtailment is enabled, but not active right now (due to positive FiT, spare battery capacity, or no solar generation)
- Deactivated: The feature is disabled
- Error: There is an issue with control of your solar inverter
Troubleshooting curtailment issues
