No - and that's actually a good thing.
Unlike most energy retailers, Amber doesn't have a separate EV plan or a set of fixed rates. Instead, you get direct access to the wholesale electricity market for a flat $25/month subscription fee. That's it. We don't mark up your energy usage - the subscription is how we keep the lights on.
Why does that matter for EV charging?
Wholesale prices move throughout the day, and they can get very cheap - sometimes even negative - during sunny periods when solar floods the grid. Amber for EVs is designed to automatically charge your car during these windows, so you're not paying peak retail rates to fill up.
Most retailers offering "EV plans" give you a cheap rate at certain hours and make it back at all other times. It can look great on paper but work out more expensive when you add it all up - especially if you have solar, a battery, or flexible charging needs.
What do I actually get?
- Direct wholesale electricity prices
- Smart charging automation that targets cheap and green windows
- Excess solar charging (if you have a compatible inverter or solar system)
- A flat monthly fee with no energy usage mark-up
