What we support

At the moment, our Amber for EVs automation supports all Tesla vehicles excluding pre-2021 Model S & X. Note, if you have a Tesla, you do not need a charger to be compatible with Amber for EVs - we can communicate with the vehicle directly.

  • ✅ Tesla Model 3
  • ✅ Tesla Model Y
  • ✅ Tesla Model S (2021-present)
  • ✅ Tesla Model X (2021-present)
  • ❌ Tesla Model S (pre-2021)
  • ❌ Tesla Model X (pre-2021)
  • ❌ Multiple Teslas

What we’re currently testing for Amber for EVs compatibility

We’re currently testing OCPP-compatible wall-chargers. This will allow us to expand Amber for EV compatibility beyond Teslas.

  • OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is a globally accepted communication standard used by hundreds of companies worldwide, enabling communication between hardware and software components of EV charging infrastructure. To learn if your charger uses OCPP, please refer to your manufacturer’s documentation.
  • Each charger brand complies with OCPP slightly differently, and this means that when we test with an OCPP charger we haven’t worked with before, we usually have to make a few small adjustments to work smoothly with it. We have a small and growing number of OCPP-chargers onboarded, and we’re looking for more!
  • If you have an OCPP-compatible wall charger, we’d love it if you could help us test. To do this, in the Amber app navigate to Settings. Through the Amber for EVs Entrance you can join the Smart-Charger waitlist and register your interest there.

What we don’t currently support

Multiple Tesla Vehicles

  • The current version of our app supports only one car per account - but we’re working on it!
  • You can still onboard one of your two cars with Amber for EVs for now by following the enrolment steps laid out here.
  • Once we implement support for multiple cars per account, we will communicate that widely.

Wall-Chargers

Other Vehicles Makes & Models

  • We don’t currently support EV charging for any other vehicle brands or models, but we are continuing to integrate with more car and charger brands, so join our waitlist to be notified when we begin testing and or are ready to support your setup!
  • In the Amber app navigate to Settings. Through the Amber for EVs Entrance you can join the Don’t see your setup listed? waitlist and register your interest there.
