- ✅ Tesla Model X (2021-present)
- ❌ Tesla Model S (pre-2021)
- ❌ Tesla Model X (pre-2021)
- ❌ Multiple Teslas
What we’re currently testing for Amber for EVs compatibility
We’re currently testing OCPP-compatible wall-chargers.
- We are currently fairly advanced in our integration with the Wallbox Pulsar Plus, an OCPP compatible wall charger. We have multiple customers with this charger who are testing Amber for EVs and it seems to work well, although fuller testing is needed. We expect to announce that we will be moving this into Beta (making Amber for EVs accessible to any customer with this charger without an invite) in the coming months
- OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is a globally accepted communication standard used by hundreds of companies worldwide, enabling communication between hardware and software components of EV charging infrastructure. To learn if your charger uses OCPP, please refer to your manufacturer’s documentation.
- Each charger brand complies with OCPP slightly differently, and this means that when we test with an OCPP charger we haven’t worked with before, we usually have to make a few small adjustments to work smoothly with it. We have a small and growing number of OCPP-chargers onboarded, and we’re looking for more!
- If you have an OCPP-compatible wall charger, we’d love it if you could help us test. To do this, in the Amber app navigate to Settings. Through the Amber for EVs Entrance you can join the Smart-Charger waitlist and register your interest there.
What we don’t currently support
Multiple Tesla Vehicles
- The current version of our app supports only one car per account - but we’re working on it!
- You can still onboard one of your two cars with Amber for EVs for now by following the enrolment steps laid out here.
- Once we implement support for multiple cars per account, we will communicate that widely.
Wall-Chargers
- We don’t support and are not currently testing with non-OCPP wall-chargers (see above for an explanation of OCPP).
Other Vehicles Makes & Models
- We don’t currently support EV charging for any other vehicle brands or models, but we are continuing to integrate with more car and charger brands, so join our waitlist to be notified when we begin testing and or are ready to support your setup!
- In the Amber app navigate to Settings. Through the Amber for EVs Entrance you can join the Don’t see your setup listed? waitlist and register your interest there.
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)
- We’re very excited about the potential of V2G and have partnered with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) on an Australia-first trial to help the energy transition.
