What is the difference between the DMO and VMO?

The Default Market Offer (DMO) - or the Victorian Default Offer (VDO) in VIC - was created to stop electricity retailers offering seemingly impressive discounts based on an over-inflated baseline price.

The DMO is the government's reference price for energy, designed to make it easy to compare energy prices from different retailers. This makes it easier for consumers to tell if they’re actually getting a good price for power. Most of our customers save significantly compared to the DMO. For extra safety, we guarantee that over the course of a year you’ll never pay more than the DMO.
