The Australian Government is providing $3.5 billion to extend and expand the Energy Bill Relief Fund and provide electricity bill rebates to all Australian households and eligible small business electricity customers in 2024-25 to ease cost of living pressures. This builds on the $1.5 billion available for energy rebates provided by the Commonwealth in 2023-24 under the existing fund. - All Australian households will receive a $300 rebate and eligible small businesses $325 from the Australian Government, to be paid in quarterly instalments on your electricity bill throughout 2024-25.
- All eligible Queensland households will receive a $1000 Cost of Living Rebate (CoLR) in 2024-25. The rebate will be applied automatically to eligible residential customers’ electricity accounts as a lump sum credit from 1 July 2024. You can find more info here.
- All eligible Queensland small businesses will receive a $325 Small Business Rebate (rebate) in 2024-25. The rebate will be applied automatically to eligible small business customers’ electricity accounts as a lump sum credit from 1 July 2024.
How will Amber apply the Energy Bill Relief Rebate?
- If you are an Amber customer on the eligibility date, the rebate will automatically be applied to your account.
- The rebate will appear under the 'Credit' section of your Amber invoice.
- If your invoice is in credit then this will automatically roll over into your next invoice.
- If you have switched retailers between the anchor dates then you will receive future instalments with whoever your retailer is on the anchor date.
When will the rebate be applied?
For the Energy Bill Relief rebate, this will be applied in quarterly instalments. You can expect these to be applied to your bills in July/ August ‘24, October/November ‘24, January/February ‘25, and April/May ‘25.

- The $325 small business rebate is to be applied in quarterly instalments of $81.25 - VIC business customers will receive a lump sum payment.

Can you explain how and when this rebate will show on our amber app or i have to go somewhere else to see that this credit has been given to me via amber ?
